Meet the Artist Reception

Public Event

Saturday, May. 5, 2018

During the month of May, the Hiddenite Arts & Heritage Center’s Lucas Mansion Gallery will feature watercolor paintings by Greg Reep. The exhibit, on display May 1st – 30th, is free and open to the public.

A meet the artist reception will be held on Saturday, May 5, 2018 in the Lucas Mansion Gallery from 12noon – 2pm. Light refreshments will be served and the artist will be available to discuss his work. The reception is free to attend and everyone is welcome.

The artist describes his work as, “...a record of a short, fleeting moment in time. A short moment that I get to escape into my own little bubble of peace and tranquility, retreating from all the worries and cares of life. “

Greg Reep and family moved from upstate New York to the lake Norman area in late summer 2015, after retiring from a 23-year law enforcement career with the New York State Police. His interest in art began at a young age and continued on and off over the years. He studied art and drafting in his school years and then served in the US Navy. Oil painting and watercolor painting are his chosen favorite mediums. He painted for several years with professional artist and illustrator, Wilson Ong of San Francisco, California, where he honed his skills on canvas and paper. Greg enjoys painting representational subjects in landscapes, cityscapes and everyday life.

“I paint for myself, to satisfy that deep down desire to be personally creative, and if some one else also happens to find my work exciting or moving then I am happy to have made that connection with another human being,” Reep went on to say.

The Hiddenite Arts & Heritage Center’s Lucas Mansion Gallery is located at 316 Hiddenite Church Road in Alexander County and is open to the public Monday – Friday from 10am – 4:30pm and on Saturday from 10am – 3pm.
