Deportations to be lower in 2025 than in 2024

Antithesis, "And I've always said that I'm opposed to it either way... with a near record low unemployment and a surplus of more than 8 million jobs (under Biden, I don't know what it is now) we needed more immigrants, not less."
Don't recall you on here mitching and boaning for 4 years about Biden and his deportation and immigration policies, and why is that?

Anti, are you saying Biden and Obama is more racist than Trump?
I'm pointing out that, statistically, Trump's policy is less effective and a lot more expensive.
I've always pointed out that Obama and Biden were more effective on illegal immigration than Trump was. And I've always said that I'm opposed to it either way... with a near record low unemployment and a surplus of more than 8 million jobs (under Biden, I don't know what it is now) we needed more immigrants, not less.
But those that voted for Trump because they thought he would be tougher on illegal immigration...

Anti, are you saying Biden and Obama is more racist than Trump? The democrats are claiming that Trump is racist for securing the border. All these injunctions from judges are for show. The protests is because people had nothing better to do. I want you to stick by your television and watch. The federal government or ICE is in the process of using 5000 local and state law enforcement officers to hit the sanctuary cities. Then come back.

Anti loves her border jumpers. I bet she has 15 or 20 in her basement.

That's not exactly comparing apples to apples, Albert. We know that "Mexican government increased enforcement measures" in 2024, leading to a significant decrease... 52% decrease from Mexico, 81% decrease from Guatemala, 76% from Honduras, and 64% from El Salvador...
I can't find raw numbers, but in May 2024, "Mexico is stopping nearly three times as many migrants who have crossed its southern border as it was a year ago... the Mexican government doesn't publicly share its migrant interdiction numbers like the U.S. does."
So you're comparing data from before Mexico's enforcement to after their enforcement. That may or may not have anything to do with Trump or the state of the US economy.

Can you show what has been done to strengthen the border?
I know that Biden increased border patrol by "just over 3,000 CBP employees and 3,300 USCIS employees." But I can't find that Trump did anything beyond that.

Antithesis, Wouldn't a stronger boarder with less illegals pouring into the US equate to fewer deportations?

NBC News calculated that in February, Immigration and Customs Enforcement removed 11,000 migrants, and just over 12,300 in March. MPI says those figures are higher than the monthly pace of removals during Trump's first term, when he deported 6,800 noncitizens per month, but still lower than former president Barack Obama's, when ICE deported about 12,900 noncitizens per month. All in all, MPI believes the Trump administration's current pace of deportations could lead to only about 500,000 immigrants being removed from the country in 2025, far below the president's 1 million goal and even below the Biden administration, which deported 685,000 migrants in fiscal year 2024.
However, we have a record number of people in ICE detention... with more than half having no criminal charges or convictions...
This means that we're spending considerably more money on this endeavor, only to have less results than we had in 2024. A recent House Judiciary bill plans to increase their budget by whopping 365%, making their budget "50% larger than the entire federal prison system..."
