Downtown Hickory Art Crawl

Make plans to be in Downtown Hickory on Thursday, September 17 for the Fall Downtown Hickory Art Crawl and the Farmer�s Market Tastin�, Tunes and Tomatoes. The festivities will take place in and around the Downtown area. The Art Crawl is from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm and features artists in and outside of businesses, demonstrations, music and children�s activities. The artists will be there for you to speak with you about their works. All artwork is for sale, so please support the awesome talent we have in the area.

The Downtown Hickory Art Crawl�s Kick Off Party will be held at the Fanjoy/Labrenz Studio, located at 215A First Avenue SW. The first 20 people there will receive $5.00 in Downtown Dollars, which can be used that evening at any participating business.
Fanjoy/Labrenz is located at 215-A First Avenue SW. The studio highlights the photography and video productions of Sally Fanjoy and James Labrenz. The grab a map and get crawling!

Next stop is The Jackson Group, 219 First Avenue SW, is a family owned consulting firm located in the renovated 1928 Ford Motor Company building. Harold Humphreys displays stone sculpture, Tom Denne features practical wooden creations and Ellen Ball exhibits metal and stone jewelry.

From there, cross the street and crawl to the Olde Hickory Station located at 232 Government Ave. Pat Hatley, author of Four Generations of Work: Leading from Conflict to Collaboration will be there signing books.

Then head to Second Street NW and wander down to Tasteful Bean Coffeehouse who has delicious coffee and comestibles. The Coffeehouse will host Leslie Hamlin, jewelry & furniture by Charles Kimso, mosaics by Maria Headrick, pottery by Amanda Dobbins, handmade cards by Akacia Robinson and photography by Richard McGee.

Take a left out of Tasteful Beans cross the street and take another left on First Avenue NW to Sonya�s Dance Academy located at 258 First Avenue NW. Sonya�s Dance Academy showcases a modern jazz demonstration at 6pm. Recently accredited by the National Honor Society for Dance Arts, students now have the option of receiving credit for dance hours. Sign up for classes while you�re there.

Next stop is Bottega�A Soulful Place located at 262 First Avenue NW who will feature a plethora of works from various artists.

Wander on up to Turnip the Arts located at 266 First Avenue NW. Turnip the Arts offers a wide variety of functional and decorative arts with workshops scheduled regularly. Adele McCarty exhibits her acrylic paintings.

Follow the acoustic sounds of Kevin Lee Smith to the corner and stop in Hatch�s Sandwich Bar where you can visit with Ollis Baggett who creates one-of-a-kind copper jewelry using tubing, flashing, wire, and other metals.

Cross First Avenue NW to visit Full Circle Arts at 45 Third Street NW. FCA will be kicking off their 7th Annual Silent Auction. Place your bids on your favorite art work!

Go up the steps and to the left and crawl up Third Street to Union Square and stop
